A Song Becomes a Book
It was my very first favorite song as a very little girl. I was in love with dogs, anything to do with dogs. Even though only one version and the chorus includes a dog metaphor, it didn't matter. The fact that the dog was greedy didn't matter; I cared that the dog lost his bone. That was all.
The song was a B-side on a single record. The A-side was Tex Ritter's Just Beyond the Moon.
I would drag the record player wherever I could to play it.
Using landmarks of the city where I live with my husband, endured deployment together, earned a Master's degree, and created some wonderful new friendships, I had to use the city where we were new together, learning it together.
