Shannon Communications is a boutique branding and communications consultancy based in San Antonio, TX. Led by Shannon Hernandez—a veteran strategist for brands like H-E-B and Southwest Airlines—the agency specializes in internal communications, health and wellness, and video production for complex organizations with high-velocity workforces.

The Challenge

Balancing the "Me" vs. "We" When a consultancy bears the name of its founder, the digital presence often defaults to a "solo-preneur" vibe. Shannon’s challenge was the opposite: The Ego Paradox: Shannon wanted a site that showcased her 25 years of expertise without making the brand "all about her." Highlighting the Alliance: The brand relies on a deep network of specialized collaborators (videographers, counselors, personal trainers). The site needed to give these partners high-level visibility. Visual Integration: The site had to integrate stunning, high-impact photography by Paul Alanis with a technical structure that supported deep thought leadership and a wide array of service categories.

The Strategy

The "Human-Centric Hub" We applied William Lidwell’s principle of Social Significance to ensure the site felt like a community of experts rather than a static portfolio. The strategy was to "connect the dots" (the brand's tagline) through Relational UX. We moved away from standard "Service/About" pages and toward a structure where content, expertise, and contributors were dynamically linked.

The Solution

Award-Winning Custom Functionality I designed and developed a bespoke WordPress ecosystem using Beaver Builder, pushing the platform to its technical limits to achieve a high-fidelity, collaborative feel. Dynamic Contributor System: To solve the "credit" challenge, I engineered a custom blog feature that displays contributor photos and bylines directly on the archive cards. This technical "hack" was so successful it was featured in the Beaver Builder Global Showcase for its innovative use of dynamic content. The "Star Catchers" UI: We used bold, high-contrast visuals and clean typography to mirror Shannon’s "Stellar Ambition" theme. The homepage utilizes a strategic "F-pattern" layout to guide users through the consultancy's diverse service pillars—from HR Communications to Video Production. Modular Collaborator Directory: I built a dedicated "Creative Team" and "Collaborators" infrastructure. This allows each partner to have a professional profile within the Shannon Communications ecosystem, reinforcing the agency’s "Dream Team" value proposition. Thought Leadership Engine: The "Insights" section was built as a categorized repository for Shannon’s extensive writings, ensuring her status as a Certified Health Coach and DE&I expert is backed by accessible, searchable data.
